Contribution of Interface Fracture Mechanism on Fracture Propagation Trajectory of Heterogeneous Asphalt Composites

چکیده
Asphalt mixture is a type of textured composite material made aggregates and mastic part. Overall strength failure behavior in such materials depends on the texture or heterogeneity mixture. In particular, crack growth mechanism from tip pre-crack significantly affected by asphalt environmental conditions. The can extend through soft mastic, tight interface mastic/aggregates. this research, performing some fracture tests typical with different test specimens under mode I, mixed I/II I/III, resistance trajectory propagating studied at two low medium temperatures (i.e., −15 +15 °C). load bearing capacity tested samples increases decreasing temperature. It also shown that significant part plane passes boundary mastic) only about 10–15% surface via breaking them. This percentage decreases for II III loading conditions higher testing temperatures. Compared to brittle isotropic materials, path shows more deviation, deviation those mixtures containing coarser ligament temperature

متن کاملFracture Toughness of Wood and Wood Composites during Crack Propagation
The mode I fracture toughness as a function of crack length of medium density fiberboard (MDF), particle board (PB), and Douglas-fir (DF) were all measured using a new energy-based method. PB and MDF are examples of composites that develop fiber bridging during crack propagation, which causes their toughness to increase with crack length. Longitudinal cracks in DF also displayed fiber bridging ...
متن کاملPrediction of Mode II of Fracture Toughness in Laminate Composites
In this paper, effects of ply orientation of adjacent plies with (ϕ//θ) interfaces on mode II critical strain energy release rate (fracture toughness) of multidirectional (MD) laminate has been studied. Ply orientation of adjacent plies is one of the most important parameters affects the mode II critical strain energy release rate () in the initiation of the delamination. To study this paramet...
متن کاملMixed Mode Fracture Analysis of Multiple Interface Cracks
This paper contains a theoretical formulation of multiple interface cracks in two bonded dissimilar half planes subjected to in-plane traction. The distributed dislocation technique is used to construct integral equations for a dissimilar mediums weakened by several interface cracks. These equations are of Cauchy singular type at the location of dislocation, which are solved numerically to obta...
متن کاملMULTI FRACTURE/DELAMINATION ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITES SUBJECTED TO IMPACT LOADINGS
A combined finite/ discrete element method is presented for modelling of composite specimens subjected to dynamic/impact loadings. The main task is set on developing an algorithm for simulation of potential bonding and debonding/delamination phenomena during impact or general dynamic loading conditions. In addition, full fracture analysis can also be performed. The proposed approach adopts a ge...
